THE JOURNEY OF HANGMAN THROUGH MONARCHS
Tumblr media
Okay, Babes you all know I'm unwell over the elite 24/7. This is solely based off Hangman's tweet and the way it unfortunately ruined my brain at 3am on a Tuesday.... @unlikelywrestlingfan asked me to post this after I sent it to her, so you can thank her for making me do this. Also thank you for the edit Elle, I totally didn't cry looking at it!!
I've taken all quotes from this article, https://www.wellandgood.com/monarch-butterfly-meaning/ if you wish to read through it in full, its a good read!
Tumblr media
"The monarch butterfly is considered to be the king of butterflies and the most beautiful of all butterflies in the world."
Perhaps Hangman was just a caterpillar in the early days of aew, just following the beautiful butterfly that brought him comfort when he couldn't give it to himself. He wanted to become that, be worthy of standing beside that butterfly and follow in his shoes, to make him proud. Making him proud never felt enough, at least to Hangman, so he would fall back to the ground before he could make that chrysalis transformation.
"They represent strength, endurance, spirituality, trust, sustaining what they believe, transformation, and evolution."
When Hangman left the elite, he was broken, weak and suffering, what he found, what he built was through his own strength and endurance. He transformed into a butterfly, maybe not as beautiful as the one he wanted to become within the elite, but one that had strong enough wings to sustain him through his evolution. He's reached multiple peaks in his journey, but it was almost as if those weren't enough for him, no matter how strong or how much he learned from them. What he craved most was at the end of his migration back home and now he has to use all he's learned to properly survive this time.
"Monarch butterflies are a guiding light that directs you to your highest spiritual truth and the inner compass that we all have, which never ceases to work to point us in the right direction."
The Bucks are naturally drawn to Hangman's light, though they aren't deserving of it and they know that, they still crave what he can give them. Hangman represents their past, the good days, the simpler times, when they were family. There were cracks in the foundation of the elite, but they were a family. They followed each other all over the world, shared everything with each other and grew into incredible people together. Though they lost sight of their original vision, and who they were before, those memories are embedded in the deepest part of their heart.
"They constantly go through phases of life and death during their migration."
Hangman going through his migration of being what fit the elite, to finally being what fit himself. It took him time to find his true self and he had to shed so many layers of his past as he did. His final transformation was from a caterpillar crawling behind the shadows of the elite, to being his own beautiful butterfly. Flying away from dangers the elite were tempting towards and would still surround him with once he was on his own.
"Death for the monarch butterfly is as important as life because the shorter lifespans allow them to complete migration while solving the problems of overpopulation and genetic diversity. It is almost as if the monarch butterfly knows that death is not to be feared; it's just another essential part of the journey."
Finally accepting the Dark Order and letting go of the elite was one of the most essential parts of the Hangman's journey. We had to watch him learn to overcome the fears of that detachment, but finally find that confidence he was lacking behind the tall shadows of the elite. A death of his lesser version into his brightest version, that final version was confident and free, he feared nothing not even the past he desperately wanted to forget.
"The monarch butterfly could be a sign that you're going through a profound internal change that you may not be aware of. The butterfly can serve as inspiration to be strong and keep going, to embrace the journey and own your truth."
Losing the title was a downfall to what he had built, and what he had always thought he craved to have on his own. It was almost as if he needed to lose to be reborn, to see that what he thought he wanted would never be enough as what he truly craved. That is the love and support of his best friends, his family. The ones he followed blindly the moment he joined them, the ones who weren't there for him the way he was with them. The ones that had to learn that what they had in Hangman was special once he was already gone. The relationship was tarnished, broken and far beyond fixable or so they thought.

The monarch represents the elite in whole, every member can be placed into their representation, but Hangman will always fit the monarch perfectly. Which brings me back to the tweet, looking back at it now the foreshadowing to it is incredible.
Tumblr media
The analogy, of the elite who always appears strong, even through their defeat, to be endangered and dwindling in numbers is baffling. If you truly look at the elite closely, much like the Monarch their numbers have fallen slowly as the years go by. Every year since 2019 they've lost members, and grown smaller. On Dynamite, Wednesday their numbers dropped drastically. Now through betrayal and deceit, leaves the lone monarchs of the elite to be preserved together.

Side notes: Butterflies have a very deep meaning to me, so Hangman choosing this as his analogy was so much fun to dissect!! Only small edits were made to this, since I wanted to keep this in its full, true form. So this was the chaotic mess of my brain when the Hungbucks era was upon us!! Hope you enjoyed!! 💕
